About

Hana means one. We are one family in Christ, gathered in Tujunga to worship, read Scripture and love our neighbors.

Who we are

Confessing Jesus as the Christ, we seek to be a faith community where Korean Americans of every generation flourish together. Rooted in Scripture, nurtured through prayer and expressed in compassionate action, we hope to live out Christ’s love in daily life and to work for reconciliation and justice.

“Confessing Jesus as the Christ, we seek to cultivate a faith community where Korean-Americans of all generations flourish together, bridging cultural and linguistic divides in pursuit of Christ-like discipleship. As a diaspora church, we transform our hybrid cultural heritage into a source of spiritual depth and prophetic witness. Rooted in scripture, nurtured through prayer, and expressed in compassionate action, our journey forms disciples who embody Christ’s love in daily life, build authentic community, and work for reconciliation and justice in a fragmented world.”

What we believe

  • Christ at the center

We follow Jesus, whose life and teaching show us love, compassion and justice. For us, faith and action belong together.

  • Scripture, read openly and thoughtfully

The Bible is the central authority for our faith and practice. We read it together with reverence and an open mind, not with rigid literalism.

  • The Open Table

We share communion every Sunday, and the table is open to everyone. God’s grace is freely given to all, whatever their race, language, gender or standing.

  • One family

Generations, languages and cultures come together here as one family in Christ (Galatians 3:28).

  • Love in action

Faith shows itself in what we do, from the food bank to our construction missions. We seek shalom: a peace that includes personal well-being, a flourishing community and justice.

Go and do likewise

In his writing on what we believe, Founding Pastor Sungdo Kang reminds us that the main character of the Bible is God, not us. Salvation is not only “mine,” and it is not only for after we die. Jesus lived for others. He brought good news to the poor and freedom to the captive (Luke 4:18), and to follow him is to live that kind of life now, as his witnesses (Acts 1:8). His words “Go and do likewise” (Luke 10:37) sum up the Christian life. Salvation reaches our neighbors, our society and all creation, and the Holy Spirit leads and strengthens us as we pray and let go of ourselves.
